Pain Relief Specialists
Double-Board-Certified Pain Management Doctor
James C. Culver, MD
“I opened the first pain center in Flint in 1991 and have since helped thousands of people get out of pain and back to work and play. One of the main secrets to my success is that I can empathize and sympathize with my patients. I try hard to put myself in your situation and then treat you the way I would want to be treated.
I became a medical doctor in the first place because I like helping people on a personal basis. I went on to specialize in interventional pain medicine and today offer you over three decades of advanced training and experience. This includes double board certification in anesthesiology and pain management. It is personally and professionally rewarding to use my skills to help patients like you get out of pain, improve your function, and get back to your active lifestyle.”
Dr. James C. Culver was born and raised in the Flint area. In his spare time he enjoys golf, skiing, weightlifting, sports car driving, traveling, hunting, and spending time with his wife, Lena, and their children and grandchildren.

Monica N. Culver, DNP
“I couldn’t be prouder to have followed in my father’s footsteps to become a second-generation pain specialist! It’s said that if you enjoy what you do for a living that you never truly work a day in your life. Well, I thoroughly enjoy what I do, and I do my best to make every patient’s experience personal. Helping people get back to their lives after experiencing pain that has disrupted it is beyond gratifying and I’m fortunate to have made it my life’s work.”
As a doctorate-level nurse practitioner, Monica has achieved the highest nursing degree possible, reflecting her medical expertise and clinical skills. Monica is a Flint area native.
